If you have been to this blog before, you may notice that I’ve cleared out most of my posts from last year.
I’ve been watching a lot of YouTube channels and reading blogs and books on being clutter free and organized and it has really lit a fire under my butt. It has gotten me on this new thing where I’m suddenly wanting to start all the way over with everything. Everything. Well, almost everything. I’ve thought about cutting my hair off but I decided against that. Other that… everything. I have thrown away several big black trash bags and moving boxes full of stuff that I don’t need and was just hoarding for no reason. Lately, what I’ve been working on is my wardrobe. I have SO. MANY. CLOTHES. Having so many clothes is overwhelming and frustrating because I forget what I have and end up buying more clothes and the cycle continues.
For over a year, my coworker had been telling me about this app, called Poshmark, that she uses to sell her old clothes, shoes, bags, makeup, etc and I signed up back then but I never really took it seriously. Last week, though, I got tired of looking at the piles and boxes full of clothes and decided to see what this app was about. I’ve been going through my closet (which is still mostly in boxes since I moved over a year ago…) and throwing it all out. I’ve gone through my all of clothes and thrown away some stuff that was torn up or otherwise unwearable (seriously, WHY do I still have that stuff??), and listed everything else that I don’t or can’t wear for sale on Poshmark. The thing I love about getting rid of all of my old stuff is that it will make way for the new things that I will buy in the future and allow me to really find my true personal style, which I’m slowly starting to understand is more simple, casual, with a bit of added flair.
There are currently over 85 items in my Poshmark closet and most of them don’t fit me while some still have the tag on it. The sad part is that I still have way more items to post! If it doesn’t sell after a while, I will donate it. Which brings me to a perfect spot for a shameless plug – be sure to sign up for Poshmark using my code JMCJP and we’ll both get a $10 credit. There are some REALLY great items for sale on the site at GREAT discounts. Not everything is used either!
You may also notice that the layout of my blog is different than before. My blog was not immune from my sudden purge urge. I recently took a hiatus due to work and when I came back, I was just not happy with what was up here – so I got rid of it. I plan to make a better effort to be consistent and produce better content and pictures to make this blog something I can be proud of.
Along with starting over, I’ve decided to embark on a journey of trying new things. Earlier in the year, I listened to Shonda Rhimes’s “Year of Yes” on Audible and it really made me reflect on my own life and the opportunities and experiences I might have passed on just because I was so accustomed to saying NO, mainly out of fear. I decided that I would at least seriously evaluate any opportunities that came my way this year instead of just brushing them off. One such opportunity led to me posting my first YouTube video and I’m so excited for this chapter. I’ve already worked out the video I want to do for my YouTube anniversary, so I just have to figure out the videos I will do in the meantime. Check out my first video below and let me know what you think. (I know that the blurriness is pretty bad and I will hopefully have it fixed on the next video, which is already in the works!)
